A: They won't give you any more power, no matter what the ad may say.
They are for high horse power engines that need the extra spark energy for ignition in forced induction, high compression or nitrious engines.

I see someone said 01-03...I have also been told that 2000-03 would work.is that not true?
A: I'm a Ford partsman and my listing says 2001 to 2003 are interchangeable. The 2004 is a different body style.

My 2001 f150 supercrew has the 4.6 with auto transmission, I today replaced the engine Oil,Oil filter,Engine Spark plugs with Motorcraft plugs,New coil pack plug wires. When you start the engine and increase the throttle the engine will shake a bit as if its misfiring and while driving around 45 or so every once in awhile the truck will shudder as if you press and release the gas peddle. Does anyone know why it shudders at accel and while driving. The tranny shifts great.
A: It sounds like a torque converter issue. Not an easy thing to diagnose, but a good oil and filter change with an approved conditioner may solve the problem.
Q: 2001 f150 supercrew 4.6 engine missing after filling up tank?
My 2001 supercrew today had full maintanance. It had new plugs and wires and oil and I filled it up for the first time with fuel. It today after about thirty minutes of driving the engine starts missing and truck jumping, I pulled over and checked all plugs and coils and wires, all checked out good and now i noticed the fuel pump makes noise while its running and i need to find out what is my reason for it missing, When i start it up it gets worse and worse each time i start it, It begins with a sputtering start and then clears up til i accellerate the throttle, Please help.
A: If you just did all that maintenance to it
then did you make sure that all the spark
plug wires are going back to the correct
plug? (Not to offend you, but it has been known to happen...)
If not, you probably got some bad gas.
I don't know where you live, but this is still winter
in Tennessee and we are getting snow.
What happens is the snow piles up on top of the parking lot and
when it melts it goes into the gas tanks at the gas station.
Gas and water will not mix.
If you think there is water in it, I suggest dumping about
1 1/2 - 2 bottles of rubbing alcohol into your tank (NOT THE
GREEN STUFF) and that should clear it up.

A: its not bad, but it makes your tranny work harder and could shorten the life of it. You need to find a different gear ratio. I reccommend putting a 4.10 gear ratio, that will solve all your problems and make your truck run 20X better with those big tires. i own a 1999 f-150 6" lift with 33" tires and when i put that gear in, my truck ran alot better and was smoother on my tranny. You can buy it for 149.99 online and then take it to a shop to have it installed. You should get better mileage too............type in SUMMIT AUTO on your search engine and go to their website to find it. it is also called a ring and pinion (Gear).
Q: Right blinker not working on 2001 F150 supercrew...is it just the bulb?
When I turn on the blinkers it blinks real fast and the front right blinker works but the right rear blinker doesnt and the mirror blinker doesnt work either. The left blinkers work normal except for the mirror blinker. Is it just the rear bulb or something else?
A: sounds like a rear bulb is out.. did the mirror blinkers ever work? I'm asking just to be nosy as the only ones that I ever saw with them is f-150 lariat trucks
It could also be a wire pulled at the turn signal switch.. repalce the bulb and recheck.. if light works, it was just a bulb, if it doesn't I'd check turn signal switch for a pulled wire

A: It's most likely either the TPS (throttle position sensor) or the IAC (idle air controller). The 4.6 and 5.4 were both notorious for having those small problems. Pretty inexpensive to fix though...take it to the Ford place or a mechanic you trust, and have them check it out. Sometimes the diagnostics that Advance/Auto Zone offer free can be helpful; other times it gives you a list of things to check. I'd have the TPS and IAC checked first...

A: That's almost a full litre difference in the engine, so yes, I'd say that there's a substantial difference in the amount of gas you use. This should give you a bit of a gauge.
