Q: Whats the gas mileage of a 2005 F150 XLT 4.6L V8??? Thanks?
Compared to the 05 F150 4.2L V6? (Power not an issue.)

A: Most friends who have compared have said actually same mileage or maybe 1 less MPG on the v-8 at most... (actually I've had one or two who claim to get better gas mileage driving the 4.6 over the 4.2) But I average 17-18MPG on a city/highway run average (50-50)

Q: Details on a 2005 Ford F150 XLT Triton with a 4.6 8 cylinder engine?
I can't find or don't know where to look for details regarding the "Triton" series. I think it pertains to the 3 different types of engines. Is this correct? I'm looking for a truck to drive everyday but has some occasional hauling.

A: The Triton moniker is was Ford calls it's line of modular engines when used in trucks. Other than fail safe cooling and a different intake manifold there aren't many differences between a 4.6L used in car and one used in a truck. Although the truck engine will more than likely be a Windsor instead of a Romeo. It should be noted that the 5.4L Triton from 04-up has 3 valve heads. The 4.6L in the 04-08 trucks has 2 valve heads. For what it's worth, I would get a 5.4L in the 04-08 F-150. Compared to the 97-03 F-150 the, 04-08's are around 400-700 pounds heavier. The 4.6L is over matched in that large a truck IMO. Even the 5.4L isn't particularly quick. You might be able to get away with the 4.6L if you're looking at a shortbed 2WD with 3.55 or 3.73 gears. But for a 4WD supercab or bigger, I think the 5.4L is the better choice.

Q: what is a 2005 f150 sc xlt flareside p.u worth under 10,000kms?
it has to have a 5.4 triton v8 sunroff, 6disc cd player, running boards, bedliner, antitheft, auto, bucket seats,

A: Dealer about $17,500 On your own about $20,500 if in great shape and in Canada

Q: I have a 2005 Ford F150 Supercrew XLT with the 4.6L engine. I want to increase its horsepower so i can race it?
I'm trying to figure out what i should do to it so i can race it out once in awhile. I'm saving up money to get new rims, new exhaust, body kit, and engine performance parts.

A: The 04-08 F-150's were considerably heavier than the 97-03 models. The 4.6L is simply not enough engine for a truck of that size. About 90% of the people I know with the 4.6L 04-08 F-150 regretted not getting the 5.4L. Even with the 5.4L it's not particularly quick. I would recommend against trying to race it, chances are you will get smoked by most family sedans and SUVs. BTW Body kits and rims tend to make your vehicle slower more than anything.

Q: 2005 F150 leveling kit?
I am thinking about getting me a leveling kit for my 2005 F150 XLT 4X4. I was wondering if anyone knew how hard they are to install? could this be done in my garage or would I need to take it somewhere for them to put it on? Thank you

A: I have done these on GM trucks and it takes a lot of time but never on a Ford but I did look at the instructions and it looks very easy and you could do this yourself in one day in your garage because you don't have to remove the strut spring completely like you do on the GM trucks (meaning on GM trucks you have to compress the spring) but instead you just add the spacer.......... As for the rears they are the same as the GM trucks and those are a piece of cake.... http://www.roughcountry.com/install/570S.pdf

Q: Lookn to Buy a 2005 F150. The sticker on truck says STX and XLT (Vin1FTRX14W85NB25653) The daler said its FX4?
The dealer said becasue th vin had RX14 it was a FX4.

A: There are actually 5 different trim levels for your 2005 F150. You have mentioned 3: STX,XLT.FX4 the other 2 would be XL(base) & Lariet (top of the line. The VIN does not tell which trim level. It does tell the body style (4X4 Supercab) & engine , trans, etc, info as Fordgirl has determined for you. The trim levels designate option & package content. There should be trim level badging somewhere on the truck itself. I will paste (from the 2005 Ford sales source book) the differences between trims: (pay close attention to the "Design & Styling " sections of each trim level as these are the easiest way to determine which trim level the is, just by looking at it) >>>>>>>>>>>copy>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2005 F-150 — Model Lineup XL PERFORMANCE/HANDLING 4.2L EFI V-6 engine (Regular Cab 4x2) 4.6L SOHC Triton™ V-8 engine (Regular Cab 4x4, SuperCab) 5-speed manual transmission (Regular Cab 4x2)(1) 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission (4R70E) (Regular Cab 4x4, SuperCab) Four-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) Power four-wheel disc brakes Manual shift-on-the-fly (MSOF — 4x4) Power rack-and-pinion steering QUALITY/RELIABILITY/ DURABILITY 100,000-mile scheduled tune-up interval Battery Saver feature Fail-safe cooling system Fully boxed ladder-type frame Hydroformed front frame rails COMFORT/CONVENIENCE Air conditioning AM/FM stereo with clock Black urethane steering wheel Black vinyl floor covering Cargo box tie-down hooks (4) Cargo lamp, with integrated center high-mounted stoplamp Cloth 40/20/40 front seat with fold-down armrest Front cup holders, two instrument-panel-mounted (N/A with MSOF) and front door trim panels Rear storage bin and power point (SuperCab) Driver/passenger visors with covered mirrors Four-gauge instrument panel cluster with speedometer and display center (tachometer with manual transmission only) 2-point restraints in front center seat (SuperCab) 3-point restraints in front center seat (Regular Cab) 3-point restraints in all rear seats (SuperCab) Seat Integrated Restraint (SIR) front driver and passenger (Regular and SuperCab) Full-size spare tire Glove compartment Grab handles, rear, SIR tower (SuperCab) Grab handles, front, A-pillar, driver and passenger Instrument panel auxiliary power point Interior front dome light with integrated map lights Interval wipers Removable/lockable tailgate with Tailgate Assist Tilt steering wheel Tow hooks — two (4x4 only) Windshield-mounted rearview mirror DESIGN/STYLING 17-inch grey styled-steel wheels Black "bar-style" grille insert/surround Black door handles Chrome front and rear step bumper Black front bumper upper fascia Manual outside rearview mirrors First-row manual windows Second-row fixed windows Rear window with fixed glass and solar tint 1. Q: Any one know who buys used cars in my area i live in madison WI?
I have a 2005 ford f150 XLT and cant sell it qany one know where i can sell it fast and not online some one local

A: . Every car lot that sells used cars and trucks is looking or another used car or truck has to get them from somewhere and that often means buying them from you and me the problem is that they will only pay wholesale and below you feel like you got nothing for your vehicle and they feel like they gave you more than it was worht and you will feel like it was worth so much more. If you owe money on it talk to them anyways they maybe still interested. note; to the person that gave me a thumbs down if you think that my answer is a bad answer than give your answer but the peson that asked the question should know how it is and the only one that is buying larger vehicles right now are used car lots and they are buying them well below the market fair value of the vehicle, or maybe where you live gasoline isn't right at $4.00 a gallon. If you are the asker that gave me the thumbs down I am a car dealer and that is the way of things
