Q: Ford F150 XLT 2008, Keyswitch on rear bumper?
I have a Ford XLT crewcab truck. I notice there is a key switch on the rear bumper next to the license plate. What does it go to and what does it do?

A: It covers the access hole to the spare tire rod. When you remove this with the key, you can use the tool supplied with the jack to lower the spare and raise it up again. They started putting on this lock to keep people from stealing the spare.

Q: 2008 Ford F150 magnaflow custome exhaust ?
My dad has an 08 f150 XLT with the chrome package and I'd like to surpirse him with an exhaust. I'm only 17 so I cant afford to get him a full exhaust kit from Flowmaster or Magnaflow but on craigslist I found 2 magnaflow boxes can I get those welded on to the f150? Will it sound nice? Any advice would be greatly appriciated. Thanks. 08 f150 4.6ltr V8 2 Magnaflow Mufflers no custume piping just wanted to replace OEM muffler box also, on my 02 mustang gt i have dual flowmaster 40s will the truck sound louder than my car? Just curious lol.

A: First make sure your dad's truck has a dual exhaust. Magnaflow's on an f150 sound great. Just make sure you get the right size inlet and outlet on the muffler and it'll be a clean installation. Your car will still be louder, the Magnaflow muffler is a straight through design muffler, so at idle it'll sound pretty quiet but once he get's on it they sound good and deep.

Q: Trade in my truck, only 1 year old?
I would like to trade in my new truck and downsize to get a car with a cheaper monthly payment. I am in college and probably shouldn't have gotten a brand new truck anyways. Details as follows: 2008 Ford F150 XLT 5.4 triton Financed for: 72 months Still owe: $21,016.85 Monthly Payment: $420 I am trying to figure out if I go to trade this in for a car that is significantly less, is my truck going to be upside-down and will they even help me out? Or will they be tacking on thousands to make it not even worth it. Any help is appreciated, ask if I didn't include enough information. I will have had this truck for a year before I go to trade it in.

A: Pickups right now are bringing way over book. I would usually advise to trade your truck in. I live in a 7% sales area. At 7% you would save $1470.00 just in sales tax if you trade it in. Add in insurance, maintenance, added interest, advertising and the list goes on.

Q: How big of tires can i put on stock '97 f-150 16in rims?
rims like these http://www.nelsonsauction.com/2008-08-16/97_Ford_F150_XLT_ext.jpg i want to get bigger tires than i have on now.

A: 265/75/R16 is about as big as I'd go. That equates to about 32 inches. remember the bigger the tire, the more it affects the overall effective rear end ratio. If you have a tall rear end (3.55 or less) the truck will seem sluggish, your speedometer and odometer will be off somewhat as well.
